Paramaribo
Accommodation type: Beds and air-conditioning
Paramaribo, capital city of Suriname, is the largest (and only official) city of Suriname! Almost half of the Surinamese population lives within its borders (about 250.000 inhabitants). It has some highlights such as Fort Zeelandia, Palmentuin, Presidential palace, Onafhankelijkheidsplein, waterkant, Sint Petrus and Paulus cathedral. During the rainy season, after some large showers, you can often hear the Rufous Frog (Leptodactylus fuscus) and the Red Snouted Treefrog (Scinax ruber) all around Paramaribo. During the planned itineraries Paramaribo is sometimes used as an in-between stop, but if you’re a die-hard herpetologist and you would still like to go out at night, this is possible; we could visit Nature Park Peperpot. |
