Having problems choosing between the tours we offer? Or is your passion for the jungle and herpetofauna begging you to stay in the jungle for a longer period of time? Combining tours might be the solution! Visiting multiple locations and habitats to score the most reptile and amphibian species possible. The ultimate primitive roadtrip
If you don't mind sleeping outside, setting up camp along the way, and driving the most challenging roads in Suriname through areas with great herping opportunities and being able to stop wherever you want; a roadtrip could be the answer. |
Operation grasshopper
Seven airstrips were constructed in the interior of Suriname from 1959 onward for geological research purposes. 4 of them are in areas populated by indians or maroons, and 3 of them are in completely uninhabited areas (Tafelberg, Kayser and Oelemarie). All of these places provide lots of options for herpetofauna. Sipaliwini e.g. houses the familiar and endemic Dendrobates azureus. Flights to the interrior are often expensive, but can be arranged. For further details and prices you can contact us. |

Well-documented maps of Suriname are unfortunately still lacking. This is one of the more detailed maps out there. If you wish to plan expeditions to mountains, creeks etc, this would be a handy map to use. Of course, help can be provided. We will help you realize your wishes.
