Coast, Culture and Jungle
Description:
During this diverse tour you will visit Coastal freshwater marshes and beaches where, in the right season, you can find sea turtles laying their eggs! On your way to the interior we will stay for the night in the capital city Paramaribo where you can see many different cultures living aside each other. If you still have energy left and would like to go for a night hike, there is this 200 hectares large swamp nearby the city where we can find many amphibians and with luck even a snake.
On our way into the interior we will stop for the night on top of Brownsberg a 500m high mountain with laterite plateau. In the morning we’ll be looking for the Hoogmoed Harlequin Toad (Atelopus hoogmoedi) before leaving to Fredberg, a primary forest with inselbergs and a high diversity of herpetofauna. On the last day we’ll visit the savanna surrounding the airport and hopefully end this tour successfully!
